Knightly Update – November 2015

Fall is in full swing, and we have just finished a very busing October. This past month, in addition to pancakes and spaghetti, we had our officers installation, our Tootsie Roll Drive and Baby Bottle collection.

A giant thanks to all the knights who helped out with this busy month and a big thanks to everyone who joined us at these events to make them a success. This year we were able to raise over $10,000 for the mentally impaired, and our baby bottle collection is running at or a little above where we were at this point last year. If you haven’t turned in your baby bottles, we are collecting them through December; just bring them in and drop them in the collection box in the front of the church or drop them off when you dine with us at pancakes or spaghetti in November!

As November begins with All Saints and All Souls days, we remember those who have preceded us on the journey to the Lord in a special way. This year the November 3rd Mass will be dedicated to Holy Family parishioners who have passed away this year, including our brother Knights. Following this mass we will have a reading of our necrology of all deceased members of our council. If you can attend this mass and pray for our departed brothers, please do. There is little we can do that is a better gift to them than to pray for them.

November ends with the Feast of Christ the King, then Thanksgiving and the beginning of Advent. It seems appropriate that Thanksgiving is nestled between these two, as we celebrate both Christ’s victory and reigning in glory at the end of the liturgical year and the preparation for His coming in the flesh. This Thanksgiving, let us all thank the Lord, not only for the blessings He has bestowed upon us as a nation, but for the sure knowledge of His victory over sin and death, for His Kenosis, self emptying, in the incarnation for our sake, and the promise of His glorious return. By His grace, may we be found worthy when that day comes.

Vivat Jesus!
